Nigeria

    The Nigerian equity market's positive close was extended to the 5th trading session as the All Share Index appreciated 2.2% today to close at a 6-week high of 25,396.83 points whilst market capitalization also increased N191.5bn to close at N8.7tn. The bullish close today further pared YTD loss of the benchmark index to 11.3%. Sustained optimism in the Bourse was majorly on account of positive investor sentiments toward Industrial Goods and Banking bellwethers - DANGCEM (+7.5), ZENITH (+5.0%) and ETI (+2.5%). Similarly, market activity was stronger as volume and value traded increased 72.2% and 48.8% to close at 275.1m units and N1.6bn respectively.

     

    Kenya

    The NSE-20 and NSE-25 and NASI gained 48.85pts, 51.04pts and 1.91pts to close at 3,932.86, 4,138.27 and 143.71 respectively. Market capitalization increased slightly by 1.36% to close at KES 2,023.92bn (USD 19.93bn). The number of shares traded surged by 143.22% to 32.06m. The total turnover similarly increased by 97.71% to KES 903.33m (USD 8.89m).

    Unga gained 8.6% to close at KES 38.00 as the day’s highest gainer reversing yesterday’s loss. East Africa Portland Cement was the top decliner losing 8.9% to close at KES 43.50. Safaricom was the day’s top mover having traded 12.24m shares which accounted for 38% of total shares traded.

     

    Ghana

    The Stock market bounced back after a five day losing streak, following GHS0.02 gains in both BOPP and CAL stocks. The GSE-Composite Index closed at 1,970.87 points from 1,968.98 points.

    The financial stock index also got a boost to close at 1,906.60 points from 1,904.16 points.

    The trade volume was almost three times the previous session's as 0.31 million shares valued at GHS0.69 million traded. The trade value was more than double that of the previous session. EGL accounted for 81.92% of the volume traded and 87.26% of the value traded.

    BOPP and CAL stocks went up to end trading at GHS3.13 and GHS1.00 respectively. EGL lost a pesewa to close at GHS2.40.

     

    Tanzania

    Today, DSE recorded a total turnover of TZS 1,163.75 mln from 2,577,529 shares traded in 57 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 1,167.66 mln from 1,479,393 shares traded in 79 deals.

    CRDB counter had 2,555,998 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 400 per share in 19 deals. DCB counter had 5,700 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 550 per share in 1 deal. MKCB counter had 2,500 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 1,000 per share in 1 deal. SWISSPORT counter had 410 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 6,930 per share in 1 deal. TBL counter had 8,231 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 14,580 per share in 22 deals. TCC counter had 200 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 13,500 per share in 2 deals. TCCL counter had 3,000 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 2,080 per share in 1 deal. TPCC counter had 1,490 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 2,940 per share in 10 deals.

     

    Zimbabwe

    The Industrial index retreated 0.84 points (0.84%) to settle at 98.94 points. BAT (BAT.zw) lost a significant $0.3917 to trade at $11.0462; NATFOODS (NTFD.zw) eased $0.1000 to close at $2.4500 whilst SEEDCO (SEED.zw) dropped by $0.0225 to $0.8000. SIMBISA (SIM.zw) was $0.0039 weaker at $0.1311. There were no trades in the positive territory. Activity was limited to fourteen counters.

    The Mining index was flat at 19.14 points. BINDURA (BIND.zw), FALGOLD (FALG.zw), HWANGE (HCCL.zw) and RIOZIM (RIOZ.zw) maintained previous price levels at $0.0095, $0.0050, $0.0300 and $0.1040 respectively.

     

    BRVM

    La BRVM a clôturé sa séance du mercredi 2 mars 2016 en baisse par rapport à la séance précédente. L’indice BRVM 10 est passé de 282,85 à 279,55 points, soit un repli de 1,17%. L’indice BRVM Composite, pour sa part, a cédé 0,38% à 302,78 points contre 303,93 points précédemment.

    La valeur des transactions s’est établie à 1,86 milliard de FCFA contre 830,79 millions de FCFA le mardi dernier. La capitalisation boursière du marché des actions se chiffre à 7 471,39 milliards de FCFA.

    Le titre le plus actif en volume est Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TG avec 305 900 actions échangées. Le titre le plus actif en valeur est SONATEL SN avec 866,36 millions de FCFA de transactions.
