Global Alternative Asset Manager The Carlyle Group and Investec Asset Management, a global investment manager with African roots, today announced that they have agreed to invest in J&J Africa, a pan-African logistics company specialising in the road transportation of general cargo along the Beira corridor, one of Southern Africa’s key trade routes.

Moody's Investors Service has assigned local and foreign-currency issuer ratings of B1 to the government of the Republic of Mozambique, with a stable rating outlook.

Mozambique's central bank cut its benchmark standing facility rate (FPC) by 50 basis points to 9.0 percent, saying inflation had gradually recovered from the impact of massive flooding earlier this year so the bank could now "proceed with measures to align interest rates in the context of the macroeconomic targets set for 2013."

Mozambique will apply a 32 percent tax on future sales of local assets by foreign companies operating in the emerging coal and gas producer as it seeks a greater share of profits from its mineral wealth, a tax official said on Monday.
