Uganda has opened a window for East Africans to buy shares in MTN Uganda (JSE:MTN, NGSE:MTNN) when the telecom operator sells its 20 percent equity stake on the local bourse.

Uganda has ordered telecoms operators in the country to list on the local bourse, the Capital Markets Authority said on Wednesday.

Investment services firm African Alliance has disclosed that it plans to close its stock brokerage business in Uganda by 25th April after operating in the market for 15 years. The company cited low market activity on the Ugandan Stock exchange as one of the main reasons for exit.

Stanbic Holdings Limited (NSE:CFC, USE:SBU) has suspended the trading of its Shares on the Ugandan Stock Exhange, the USE Chief executive officer has said.
