Burundi's year-on-year inflation rate rose slightly to 10.4 percent in August from 10.1 percent in July, following a slower rise of food prices on local markets, the country's statistics board said on Friday.
The price index for food rose 12.2 percent in the year to August from 11.5 percent in July, official figures from the Institute of Economic Studies and Statistics (ISTEEBU) showed.
Food is among the major components used to measure inflation in the landlocked nation of more than 8 million people.
Burundi's government projects the headline inflation rate will reach 9 percent this year.
