Businessman Peter Munga is set to sell 348.5 million shares of financial services firm Britam (NSE:BRIT) worth Sh4.8 billion to Zurich-based insurance giant Swiss Re, completing his disposal of the 452.5 million shares he acquired from former owner Dawood Rawat in 2016.
Britam (NSE:BRIT) has received Sh5.7 billion from private equity fund AfricInvest after completing the sale of 360.8 million new shares, which were listed yesterday at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
The Capital Markets Authority is reviewing eligibility requirements for firms that wish to list on the bourse to remove unnecessary barriers and attract new listings, the regulator’s chief executive told Reuters on Tuesday.
The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has received approval to undertake a Pilot Phase Test for the Derivatives Market within the next six months. This follows NSE’s satisfactory fulfillment of the requirements set out in Section 36A of the Capital Markets Act and The Capital Markets (Derivatives Markets) Regulations, 2015.
