Rwanda's central bank kept its benchmark repo rate steady at 5.50 percent, saying positive macroeconomic conditions, including low inflationary and exchange rate pressures, seen in the second quarter of this year "are likely to prevail in the remaining part of 2018."

Rwanda’s economy expanded by 10.6% in the first quarter of 2018, where GDP at current market prices was estimated at Frw 1,985 billion, up from Frw 1,816 billion in the previous year. 

Moody's Investors Service (Moody's) has today affirmed the Government of Rwanda's B2 long-term issuer ratings and maintained the stable outlook. 

Rwanda's central bank kept its benchmark repo rate at 5.5 percent to encourage the banking sector to continue financing the economy and "cement the outcomes of its previous decisions" as inflation is not expected to exceed the 5.0 objective this year and pressures on the Rwandan Franc have remained subdued.
