With good news pouring in of multiple listings to be conducted this year, comes the disappointment from the first IPO of the year. TCCIA Investment Company Ltd (TCIL) launched its IPO on February 1st to a surprize to most. With the aim to raise TZS 45 billion, the company has only managed to achieve 2.3% (TZS 1.0bn/-) of its target during the six-week period.
While the battle between the government and telecom companies continues, hails the news of another IPO. Arena Real Estate Plc. formerly known as Arena Real Estate Developers Company Limited is looking to revolutionize the real estate industry in Tanzania by floating 30% of their equity on the Dar-Es-Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE).
Vodacom's Tanzanian subsidiary received approval on Tuesday to list on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange and aims to raise Tsh476 billion ($213 million) in the IPO, the market regulator said. It is the first of a series of initial public offerings by telecommunications companies on the domestic stock exchange this year.
