Britam Holdings has stopped increasing investments in equities to minimise exposure in the wake of falling share prices of many companies at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) recorded a 72.4 percent jump in net profit to Sh69.38 million in the first half of the year, helped by higher equities trading commissions and data sales.
Britam Holdings' net profit for the half year ended June quadrupled to Sh1.64 billion on increased insurance revenue and growth in interest and dividend income.
Jubilee Holdings has doubled its interim dividend to Sh2 per share or a total of Sh144.95 million for the half-year ended June, joining the list of a few other listed firms that are making cash distributions to shareholders.
