The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange Limited (“ZSE”) is pleased to announce the launch of the Zimbabwe National Stock Market Index (“ZNSMI”), with effect from 02 January, 2024. This new index is designed to comprehensively track the performance of companies listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (“ZSE”), Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (“VFEX”), and the Financial Securities Exchange (“FINSEC”). 

The Revitus Property Opportunities Real Investments Trust (Revitus REIT) has become the second REIT to be listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) following its official listing yesterday.

The CEO of the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE), Justin Bgoni, has stated that companies listed on the exchange can choose to prepare their financial statements in US dollars. This is due to the US dollar’s prominent role in the country’s economy. However, such a switch would require approval from the directors and shareholders of the companies. Justin Bgoni said:

The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) total turnover for the third quarter of 2023 jumped 418 percent to $171 billion compared to $33 billion recorded during the same period in the prior year, as excess liquidity found its way to the equities market.
